Printed Publications

Positioning the Brand Mark

All printed material and publications must carry the Dublin City Brand Mark at the standard size shown B. It is advised that all printed material promoting Dublin City Council and its services should be a standard A or DL format for consistency in appearance.

When positioning the Brand Mark on standard A or DL format documents, it should always appear in the top right corner as shown or bottom right if there are design constraints which deems the top right positioning impractical A. The size of the Brand Mark must remain constant up to A3 and the logo acetate should be used as a guide for checking and positioning of the Brand Mark C and D. For sizes above A3, the Brand Mark should increase in scale and proportion.

New House Style

A new visual style has been designed to carry across on all Dublin City Council printed pieces of communication. This house style brings together a combination of elements such as imagery both graphic and photographic, type, colour and a concise template which, when used collectively will bring a very cohesive and fresh style to all of Dublin City Council printed communication pieces.

This new visual style and template (front and back cover) has been designed in this way for the following reasons and must be adhered to for all of Dublin City Council's printed material:

  • To create a standard look and feel to all Dublin City Council publications.
  • To allow greater flexibility when it comes to the design of the front cover of publications.
  • To set out clear guidelines for the positioning of the Brand Mark.
  • To enforce the Council corporate brand elements such as use of colour and type.
  • To standardise the use of photography.
  • To introduce a standard information template on the back of all Council publications (web address, Brand Mark and published by details).
  • To standardise the look and feel of all sub brands publications within the Council.

Other City Council Logos

The following are examples of other sub brands within Dublin City Council:

  • Ballymun Regeneration Limited
  • City Hall
  • Dublin City Gallery - The Hugh Lane
  • Dublin Fire Brigade
  • Dublin City Development Board
  • The Mansion House

In most cases these sub brands have their own design requirements and house styles, therefore they do not have to comply with the full Dublin City Council brand guidelines. It must however, be acknowledged that they are part of the Council and as such must carry the same information template on the back of their publications as all other Dublin City Council print material figure A.

Branded Stationery

To ensure consistency in all our communications, branded stationery templates have been designed for Dublin City Council. The template covers the standard letterhead, envelopes, compliment slips and business cards. Base stock of the branded stationery can be ordered using the online purchasing system. All stationery should be ordered through the nominated person in your own department/area.

All employees should have a Word template of their address and department details (available on the shared drive). These details should be overprinted onto the corporate Dublin City Council letterheads in grey, Arial 9pt on 12pt leading, ranged right with the Dublin City Council type. Block and floor numbers must not be used in the template and no other logos may appear on any stationery. As a guide all correspondence should be typed in Arial 10pt on 12pt leading.
