Advertising
The Press Office manages Dublin City Council advertising. All advertising placed by the Council in Irish or International newspapers or magazines must be placed through the Press Office, who in turn will arrange publication through the advertising contractor.
General Guidelines:
Email your ad to adverts@dublincity.ie and include:
- The advertising copy.
- The date(s) the advert is to be published and the publication(s) it is to appear in.
- The section of the newspaper if relevant – eg public notices, tenders, news page etc.
- Fax the advertising copy with your Executive Manager's signature, F 222 2681.
- Your Department or Area's cost centre.
Timeframes:
- All adverts must be submitted to the Press Office by at least noon two days prior to the proposed date of publication.
- The commercial sections of the Irish Times and Irish Independent appear on Wednesdays and adverts for these must be submitted by the Thursday preceding publication.
- Adverts for the residential property sections of the Irish Times (Thursday publication) and the Irish Independent (Friday) must be submitted on the Friday preceding publication.
- Adverts of more than half a page and consisting of detailed design or colour schemes require more time. Contact the Press Office for further details.
Budgets:
Departments should amalgamate adverts whenever possible in order to reduce costs. This applies particularly in relation to road closures, recruitment, tenders and closures for public holidays.
Advertising Copy:
- Avoid duplication of things such as contact names, telephone numbers, addresses, etc. to minimise advertising copy space
- Monitor the accuracy of all contact information
- The size of all adverts, including statutory and tender advertisements, should be kept to a minimum
- The documentation for Part VIII, EIS and similar reports must be available on www.dublincity.ie on the same day the notice appears in print.
Procurement:
Newspaper adverts for tenders must include:
- Summary contract description and notification that full contract details are available on www.etenders.gov.ie.
- Type of contract eg Open, Restricted/Negotiated
- Closing date and time of receipt for tenders
- Date of dispatch of tender notice for publication in the Official Journal of the European Communities (O.J.E.C.) if applicable
- If you are placing advertising copy relating to procurement you must contact the Procurement Section in advance of sending ad to Press Office.

Logos:
Use of the Dublin City Council Brand Mark must comply with the guidelines for its use. This covers where the logo is placed on the advertising copy, the type of logo used, its size, how it is used with other logos, etc. If other logos are to appear with the Council's these should ideally be provided in Vector format such as eps. Advertising Contractor:
Since 1st July 2008, three companies have been contracted to provide the separate Advertising Services of Production, Creation and Buying and Placement. Brindley Advertising was appointed to provide Statutory Advertising. MediaVest was appointed to buy and place all Advertising, both statutory and creative. Publicis QMP was appointed to provide all Advertising Creative Services and can also facilitate Departments that wish to expand their advertising requirements to the use of visuals, radio, television and outdoor advertising (billboards, bus shelters, buses and forecourts).
