Finishing Touches - GoldCore & The LAB in Design Week Magazine
Posted on September 04 2009
Design Week’s July edition featured an interview with our Creative Director Mel O’Rourke, in an article by Anna Richardson, focussed on the creative use of paper and process in projects with budgetary constraints. The article highlighted two of our recent projects for their use of stock and printing techniques — The LAB & GoldCore.

“Type and Imagery can only take you so far, the feel of paper can evoke an immediate reaction and can communicate certain aspects of what the piece is promoting”. Mel sees the shift in emphasis as part of a wider reaction — “a backlash against four-colour process printing and its connotations of excess. Theres something more subtle and interesting about one and two colour use, especially when it is combined with great paper and unusual folding and binding methods. It’s really down to what the stated objectives of the piece are.”
